This past Saturday we finally had the opportunity to participate in Jedi Training at Hollywood Studios. I have seen parts of the show several times, but this is the first time my son actually participated in it. It is a super fun (if you are into Star Wars!) interactive show where kids ages 4-12 are led by a Jedi Master on how to use the force, a lightsaber, and then they each get about a 15-20 second battle with a Star Wars villain.
So unfortunately at this time Jedi Training is not something you can schedule ahead of time thorough the fast pass system or by making a reservation online or over the phone. The only way to sign your child up is to go to the sign up outpost area in between the Indiana Jones show and the 50's Prime time Cafe restaurant. There are several times throughout the day with about 30 slots but they fill up fast! Show up before the park opens for the day, like 30-45 minutes prior. A lot of the times they will let you into the park early, you just can't get on any rides or into any shows until the opening time, but you are free to roam around. Or you can even make an early breakfast reservation at Hollywood and Vine and they will let you in early and you can sign up before you eat. So as soon as you get in the park make your way (run!) to the sign up. Basically follow the rest of the groups of people making a mad dash for the sign up area! We went on a relatively slower day, so it didn't fill up as fast as other days. If you get there after they fill up they do offer a few slots for alternates, but this does not guarantee you will be in the show, only if someone doesn't show up!
They have you return to the Outpost area that you signed up at 30 minutes before the show time. Here they line up the kids and get them their Jedi robes and go over the rules.
The kids (with their parents on the side) parade down the street with a very cute Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple banner towards the Jedi training stage next to Star Tours. The photo pass photographers give the adults a photo pass card to access the many pictures they take during the show after, and they do take a lot! The kids then go on stage and are given blue and green light sabers.
The show has a small story line about a Jedi Master and his apprentice who is also learning how to use the force and beginning her battles with the dark side. At the beginning of the show a Jedi leads the children in learning the ways of the force. They practice using the force on opening the cave door on the stage. The kids also get to learn some cool basic light saber moves.
After that the kids get to engage in a light saber battle! There were 2 people that came out, Darth Vader and The Seventh Sister Inquisitor. Half of the kids battled one and the other half battled the other. There is no way to know who they will get, so make sure your kids don't have their hearts set on a certain villain! Also after that Kylo Ren came out and had a battle with the actors. The whole show was about 20 minutes and was definitely something any Star Wars fan would enjoy! Heck, even I wish I could participate!
This is such a cute show! Even though we don't have any kids that are old enough to participate, we always love watching it when we're in Hollywood Studios! Glad your son had the chance to participate!
ReplyDeleteDisney definitely does a good job of accommodating that many kids and making them feel like they had a great experience in such a short amount of time!
