Disney Fantasy 7 Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise: Day 4

Day 4: Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Tuesday: Sept 13, 2016
Evening Attire: Pirate/Cruise Casual
Restaurant: Royal Palace
Stage Show: The Magic & Illusion of Shawn Farquhar

This day was a super busy, but very fun day. Our first port stop was Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. The kids weren't too interested in getting off the ship so we decided to make this port day an adult only adventure. The great thing about Disney is they do allow you to leave your kids on the ship in the kids club at the ports if you choose. I was a little nervous about it, but it made me feel better that he would be with our friends three sons, the security they have in place, and the staff had been great with him the past few days.

The port at Tortola

We chose the Tour to Virgin Gorda Port Adventure. When we got off the ship in Tortola we boarded an open air boat and cruised along the Sir Francis Drake Channel for about 30-40 minutes to Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda.

Once we arrived in Spanish Town we got on an open air bus, where our guide took us on a short tour on the winding roads that led to some very breathtaking overlooks of the Savannah Bay.

At the Baths National Parks we met another guide who would lead us to The Baths. The Baths is made up of several secluded beaches, pools, and grottoes that were formed by volcanic activity.

(First short hike portion of our adventure to The Baths)

(The only bad part of traveling with a tour group... lots of people to share
this beautiful scenery with!)

(Like any true introverts, we quickly found a quiet spot off to the side without a lot of people!)

After about an hour or so at The Baths we then were led on a hike on trails through caves that took us over to Devils Bay.

(And onto the cave hiking portion...)

(Yep they didn't lie when they said there would be climbing involved)

Some photos from our journey back to the cruise ship.

Once we got back to the ship we went and picked up Max and took him off the ship to explore a little of Tortola right around the docked ship.

(One of my all time favorite pictures from the trip. I am pretty sure Disney needs to buy this from me to use as advertisement for their Disney Star Wars Cruises!)

That night was Pirate Night on the ship. On most sailings Pirate Night is on the itinerary one of the nights. It includes a Pirate themed dinner with the wait staff dressed up for the occasion (and they will say arrrgh a lot and tell corny pirate jokes)  followed by a "Pirates of the Caribbean" deck party and show concluding with fireworks. Guests are welcome to dress up in "Pirate attire" if you choose. Pirate themed bandannas will also be left for you in your stateroom. There will be people who go completely all out head to toe pirate and others who may just wear a pirate t-shirt (my husband) to not dressing up at all, so whatever level of pirate you choose you will not be the only one!

(You can't attend Pirate night without a photo with Pirate Mickey!)

(Love this pic of my 2 pirates)

(The kids even got some cool glowy pirate cups for their beverages)

(My fun adult beverage, unfortunately not in a glowy glass!)

After dinner we went to the Walt Disney Theatre to check out the show that night, The Magic and Illusion of Shawn Farquhar. He put on a really entertaining show with his magic and audience interactions. I enjoy watching others be chosen for audience participation but always want to hide under my seat when they are choosing their victims!

After the show we were exhausted, we decided to skip the Pirate deck party and just see if we could watch the fireworks from our balcony. We were lucky to be able to see some of them from our deck.

(Not the best photos, but proof we did see some fireworks!)

(And of course our towel/blanket creation of the evening was also sporting a pirate theme)
